Flowstone Industrial Flooring Limited were contracted by Sparks to carry out resin floor works to their commercial MOT workshop in Swindon. The work space used by Sparks is hugely demanding for any flooring system – requiring a solution that is both durable and functional.
The use of large scale machinery, vehicular transportation and a high footfall means that any flooring system would have to cope with the varied and significant pressures of industrial usage.
Overview of Project
The Client required a hard-wearing flooring solution suitable for frequent heavy-duty vehicular traffic. There was also a need for a flooring system that could handle chemical spillages such as oil and other corrosive materials. Virtus Resins Strongcoat – 2 pack high build epoxy paint, was specified for the purpose as it is both highly durable and incredibly resistant.
As always, Flowstone work with the client to create a solution that is both functional, long-lasting and also considerate of any aesthetic requirements. The works consisted of approximately 646 sqm area total, inclusive of black and yellow chevrons surrounding the vehicle pit lane.
We also make ourselves aware of the specific demands of the businesses we operate in. We understand that (for the majority of the time) we will be working in environments that are actively operational and, as a result, we work with the client to ensure that any inconvenience is kept to an absolute minimum.
In this instance, we liaised with Sparks and agreed a timetable of works that would suit the demands of their operation commitments. The client requested for the works to be carried out in 2 separate visits in order to accommodate other trades on site.
Preparation of the Project and the Completed Works
Our works began with full mechanical floor preparation. The whole surface area was thoroughly cleaned and keyed using a diamond grinder and shot-blaster in preparation for the new resin coatings.
We then proceeded to apply 2 coats of Strongcoat in Light Grey finish. The floor was finished off with respective DVSA markings. The final result was a glossy, hard wearing, chemical and oil-resistant and aesthetically pleasing resin floor.
Sparks were very pleased with the results which is always the most satisfying part of any job. Our specialist teams work hard to ensure a convenient service with a high-quality finish.
