Flowstone Industrial Flooring Limited was contracted to carry out resin flooring works in one of the many Adidas outlet stores located in O2 arena, London.
Job Overview
The works area comprised of newly screeded 455m2 area, inclusive of 407m2 Front of House and 48m2 Back of House.
Specification
The Client specified Cemflow Pigmented Topping in colour Pebble to be installed at 8mm thickness, throughout. The finish was expected to match the flooring in existing Adidas outlet stores throughout the country. The floor was to be completed with two coats of clear gloss Cemflow Sealer.
Challenges
The Client required the works to be completed in a single weekend, with minimal disruption and dust, ready for traffic the next day. Fast turnaround was essential in order to ensure the delivery of scheduled store openings for this year.
To accommodate this request, extended working hours and timed deliveries were arranged in advance in order to avoid any delays to the Client’s sequence of works.
Last minute specification changes were also required, with the Client having previously specified an addition of decorative aggregate to the final finish, which was no longer desired. Flowstone accommodated request for different specification by preparing few custom-made samples for the Client to choose from, in order to demonstrate versatility of finishes which can be achieved using Cemflow Pigmented Topping. At the end, the Client settled for plain smooth industrial look finish, throughout.
Sequence of Works
Flowstone started the works by carrying out full mechanical floor preparation to the respective floor areas, consisting of STR and shot-blasting. Localised floor repairs were carried out to the lift area in order to fill out 25mm gap between the substrate and the lift.
We then proceeded to apply DPM primer to the whole area. The floor required DPM primer due to significant moisture levels in the new screed, which was laid a week ago. This was fundamental in order to prevent residual moisture bursting new topping as the screed dries out.
Flowstone continued the works by applying 8mm Cemflow Topping. The topping was mixed in individual batches and poured by hand, then immediately spread out with a pin rake to ensure uniform thickness throughout, and followed by a spiked rolled to de-aerate the topping. The whole floor was then finished off by sealing with 2 coats of Cemflow Sealer. The works were completed in 3 days and to Client’s specification.
