As part of a capital development project, FMC Chemicals in Bromborough wanted to invest in a hard-wearing and long-lasting flooring system for their refurbished laboratory.
With excellent chemical and wear resistance, and an expected lifespan exceeding 20 years, Flowstone specified Virtus Resins’ Flowfresh HF, a 6mm polyurethane screed with anti-microbial properties based on Ion technology that proactively fights the build-up of bacteria on a floor’s surface. This system has been installed on behalf of clients such as Nestlé, McVities, Astra Zeneca and GlaxoSmithKline.

Anti-microbial qualities
Flowfresh HF is a performance based antimicrobial flooring system which inhibits the growth of bacteria, fungi, moulds and mildew. Owing to the inclusion of the Polygiene agent – a silver-ion based antimicrobial treatment placed within the resinous flooring material – Flowfresh HF floor coating system is able to eliminate and destroy up to 99.9% of all bacteria, dirt and nasties landing on the surface.
Installation timeframe
Being a trowel applied system, Flowstone called upon its skilled screeders who completed the installation over a 2-day period, later returning to complete another area and install a number of joints to seal the floor and give a seamless finish. This enabled FMC chemicals to use the area without any undue delay and without having an impact on production
