Specialist contractor Flowstone Industrial Flooring Limited was appointed to apply a car park coatings system to the top deck, the intermediate deck and the stair cores of a newly constructed multi-storey car park. The facility was constructed primarily to provide car parking for the staff at Lonza Biologic’s UK site in Slough.
The car park decks were prepared by way of dust-free, steel captive Shotblasting and the stair cores were prepared using hand-held diamond grinders.
The Tremco Illbruck MMA rapid cure deck waterproofing system was selected due to its high-quality finish and long deck surface life. The system works by binding aggregates and resin together to waterproof the structure and provides an anti-slip surface to minimize the risk of slips or collisions. The methacrylate technology permits traffic after only four hours whereas conventional polyurethanes or epoxy systems may take up to seven days to fully cure. The chemical and fuel resistance of the MMA system is also outstanding.
Special flexible methacrylate technology in combination with fleece is also used for elastomeric waterproofing for vulnerable areas and areas of high movement.
Unlike conventional systems, the MMA technology allows for application even in cold temperatures.
Flowstone was appointed due to our extensive car park deck waterproofing experience and the quality and professionalism of our approach. This is not only evidenced by our extensive history of car park refurbishment but also by our ISO 9001 quality management accreditation and our ability to be able to offer manufacturers backed as well as insurance backed guarantees.
