Located in the picturesque Llyn Peninsula in North Wales, a family-run business of the Welsh Lady Preserves has been making award-winning sweet preserves and savoury condiments for 50 years.
As part of the refurbishment of their production factory, they required a new flooring system to level and protect the existing concrete floor.
Specification of the new resin factory floor
Flowfresh HF, a 6-9mm heavy-duty, food-grade polyurethane resin floor screed was specified for the purpose. The system offers hygienic, antimicrobial floor finish with a textured non-slip effect on the surface and is ideal for use in wet food processing zones. It is also highly impact-resistant and will withstand the continuous traffic of plastic wheeled trolleys, forklifts, and the weight of the electric power trucks.
The floor was heavily damaged and suffered from the dampness throughout the production area. The burners were put in place to speed up the floor drying process. Once the substrate was dry, Flowstone team carried out mechanical floor preparation works by scabbling off the existing top layer of concrete. The floor was then levelled using a heavy-duty polyurethane floor levelling mortar. Two layers of DPM (Damp Proof Membrane) primer were applied prior to the installation of the Flowfresh HF food-grade polyurethane screed.
The floor was them complete with matching coving and jointing, throughout.
The Client was delighted with the installation service and requested that Flowstone come back to complete another production area, next year.
